The Luke’s narrative of Road to Emmaus emphasizes that the risen Jesus is neither a ghost nor merely a guest, but the host of every gathering and every meal. As the two disciples walked away from Jerusalem, confused and troubled by recent events, Jesus joined them without being recognized. Instead of correcting them directly, He gently guided them through the Scriptures, helping them understand that everything that happened was part of God’s plan.
When they reached their home and invited Him in, Jesus took the bread, blessed it, and broke it—revealing Himself as the risen Lord. In that moment, their eyes were opened. This reflects the pattern of Christian worship: encountering Christ through the Word and the breaking of bread (Holy Communion).
Jesus is always present when believers gather in His name. He leads, nourishes, and reveals Himself as the true host. Therefore, keep Jesus at the center of your lives, trusting His presence, especially in times of confusion, and allowing Him to guide and sustain you. God bless us all!
