Are we people who simply say, “Yes, Lord,” or do we put God’s Word into practice? Through the parable of the two sons in Matthew 21:28–32, Jesus reminds us that true obedience is demonstrated through our actions, not merely our words. We may know God’s Word, make promises to Him, and even appear willing to serve Him, yet fail to do what He asks. This sermon challenges us to examine our hearts and consider whether our lives reflect our faith. It reminds us that delayed obedience, partial obedience, and excuses can prevent us from fulfilling God’s will.

God is not looking for people who only make promises, but for those who are willing to repent, obey, and follow Him faithfully. Through the examples of the two sons, King Saul, and Jesus Himself, we will discover the importance of immediate, wholehearted, and faithful obedience. Jesus is our perfect example, for He willingly obeyed the Father and remained faithful even to the cross. As we reflect on His example, may we learn to put our faith into action, serve God with a willing heart, and not only start well but also finish well, remaining faithful to Christ until the end!
