On the 5th Sunday of Lent we meet Mary, sister of Martha and Lazarus and friend of Jesus as Jesus came by for the last time on his way to Jerusalem and the cross. In this message Francis reviews the relationship among these people especially the opposite relational styles displayed by Mary and Martha. When it comes to the anointing, Mary’s action is seen as a model of how to respond to the felt presence of the Lord. In short it’s as Isaiah (55.6) said: “Seek the Lord while he is may be found, call upon him while he is near.”
