Sermon March 29, 2026
“Who Is This Who Comes?” – Palm Sunday Sermon: On Palm Sunday, the crowds welcomed Jesus into Jerusalem with joy, shouting, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.” Yet amid the celebration, a deeper question arose: “Who is this?” While some answered that He was Jesus of Nazereth, prophet from Galilee, the Gospel invites us to see far more.
Gospel writes kept Jesus identity kept a secret. Jesus’ true identity is fully revealed only through the cross—His betrayal, suffering, crucifixion, and cross. The Gospel writers intentionally lead us to this climax to show that Jesus is not merely a prophet, but the Messiah and Savior.
Echoing Psalm 118, the cry “Hosanna” (“Save us now”) recognizes humanity’s deep need for salvation. David describes how the Messiah is to be blessed and welcomed. “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.” Jesus comes with divine authority, sent by the Father, and in Him the fullness of God is revealed—perfect, complete, and overflowing in love.
Followers of Jesus should move beyond superficial knowledge of Christ into a deeper relationship with Him. Like a tea bag fully immersed in water, true transformation happens when we abide in Christ, not merely “dip” into faith occasionally.
Ultimately, the question remains personal: Who is Jesus to you? The answer is not just to be known intellectually, but lived out through love, devotion, and a Christ-centered life. God bless us all!
