Sermon – February 1st, 2026
This sermon reflects on Jesus’ first miracle at the wedding in Cana, where He revealed His glory by turning water into wine. In John’s Gospel, miracles are called “signs” because they point beyond the act itself to God’s presence and purpose. By performing His first sign at a wedding, Jesus shows that marriage is sacred and deeply important to God.
Marriage, though divinely instituted, brings together two imperfect people and can be challenging. Yet God desires to be present in every family, guiding and strengthening the relationship. The key question for couples is whether they truly invite Jesus into their marriage through prayer, Scripture, and shared faith.
When the wedding ran out of wine, Mary’s instruction—“Do whatever He tells you”—became the central message for all Christian marriages. Obedience to Christ’s Word brings transformation. As couples love, forgive, submit, and serve one another according to God’s commands, He provides what is lacking and restores joy.
Like a campfire that must be continually fed, marriage must be nurtured with patience, love, kindness, and faithfulness. When Christ is welcomed and obeyed, He sustains and blesses the union.
