Jesus, in anticipation of his second coming, shared a poignant parable on talents just before his crucifixion. This parable emphasized the importance of using the gifts and abilities bestowed upon us. In the parable, two servants wisely employed their talents, doubling them, while another hid his talent, resulting in guilt and punishment.

Talents come in various forms: the uniqueness inherent in each individual, natural gifts, the advantageous positions we find ourselves in, the opportunities at hand, and time itself. It is undeniable that everyone has been given talents designed to their abilities. The crucial question is not the many talents we possess, but rather, how we choose to employ them.

Peter provides valuable insight into this matter, urging us to “serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received” (1 Peter 4:10). The call is clear – use your talents for the benefit of others. The service rendered to others glorifies God. Jesus conveyed this in his sermon on the mount, “Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16). Whether it’s singing, music, writing, speaking, or any other skill, channel your talents for the glory of God.

Our Lord is pleased when we actively use and multiply the talents entrusted to us. When we eventually stand before him, we can anticipate hearing the words, “Well done! Good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of your master.” Therefore, I encourage you to utilize all that you have for the glory of God.
