The Trinity is a concept that is impossible for any human to fully understand. God is infinitely greater than we are; therefore, we should not expect to be able to understand Him completely. Even after the incarnation of the Lord Jesus, it is still incomprehensible for the human mind to know God totally. Which means Trinity keeps alive the mystic nature of God. But, this does not stop us from knowing God. God continues to reveal himself to us and he wants us to know him more and more. It only shows our human depravity which makes us humble before the Lord.
Trinity is tri-unity, which means God is in unity. The Bible teaches that the Father is God, that Jesus is God, and that the Holy Spirit is God. Everyone is unique/special and distinguishable. God is in a love relationship with each other in Trinity and dwells in a community. But our God is a monotheistic God. The Bible teaches that there is only one God. This is a perfect model of unity. This unity is so perfect that 1+1+1 becomes 1 not 3. God in Trinity is inseparable and mutually interdependent. Also, in Trinity, there is equality in dignity and divinity. When Jesus said “My Father is greater than I” it is not about inequality. It is complementary and not competition. As we celebrate Trinity Sunday, let us learn about the unique nature of our Triune God and the model of unity the Trinity provides. May the dear Lord help us! God bless!
