History
Back in 2013 a request was put to the church council regarding running a holiday bible club.
A minimum of ten leaders were required before it would be launched — and after the first Sunday of asking exactly ten people came forward to offer their time and talents – we took this as God opening a door for us to share His word and love with the children in our care and to reach out to invite others to hear the good news about Jesus. Around twenty-five children joined that year and the team worked really hard to put on a week of fun mornings with a whole lot of God’s word being shared through songs, stories, drama, workbooks and small group discussions. With much positive feedback from kids, parents and the whole church community, it became an annual practice to run a similar club on the last week of the school holidays each summer.
Wonderzone
Now in 2024, we are ready to step into our 11th Holiday Bible Club — Wonder Zone! (for those of you who are doing the maths… two years missed due to COVID).
The programme this year will explore the wonder of the universe and celebrate how God speaks and reveals Himself to us through the way all things in creation fit together. Encouraging us to explore and know how things work (science) and who has set all things in motion (God). As we delve into the Bible we can get to know God more deeply and worship Him in awe and wonder.
Highlights
What began as a group of enthusiastic people not really knowing what they were doing, has developed into an amazing example of church working and growing together in being the body of Christ—young and old, different gifts, serving one another, sharing life and faith—all to make the love and truth of God known in this place. It truly is an example in the most practical sense of ‘Knowing Christ Jesus and making Him known in Eindhoven and beyond’.
Pray
Unless the Lord builds the house, those who labour do so in vain…
Psalm 127
Please join with us in prayer for the week:
- for protection, fun, energy and an excitement in the hearts of the children to hear the word of God and celebrate the works of God;
- for enough leaders for each day (as some cannot come all five days);
- for the enthusiastic and very willing teenagers who take on more and more responsibility each year, particularly Erin and Joshua as they lead the upfront sessions;
- for good connections between the kids and leaders as they meet in small groups;
- for the Dutch only speaking children, that they may be able to follow what is happening
We are thankful to God for faithfully and graciously providing for us year after year with people who sacrificially give a week of their time and talents to put this event together. We also greatly appreciate the Scripture Union material which provides the themes and a ton of ideas we can use to run the club.
We encourage everyone to come and support this work with your presence on the church wide Sunday services on the 11th and 18th August.
