Practicing the Way: Sabbath

Sabbath is a twenty-four hour time period set aside to stop, rest, delight, and worship. It is the best day of the week. In our era of chronic exhaustion, emotional unhealth, and spiritual stagnation, few things are more necessary than the recovery of this ancient practice.

Beginning the Practice of Sabbath – A Four-Session Journey

We are excited to invite you to a five-session experience designed to help our church family rediscover the gift of Sabbath. In a world that moves quickly and demands constantly, Sabbath offers us God’s invitation to rest, delight, worship, and trust.

This series is open to all church members who desire a deeper, more life-giving rhythm with God.

What to Expect

Each session will include video teaching, guided reflection, discussion, and simple practices you can begin using right away.

Session 1: Stop

We will explore the biblical foundation of Sabbath, beginning in Genesis and continuing through the life of Jesus. Together, we’ll reflect on why Sabbath is not simply a rule, but a gift woven into creation itself. God built a rhythm of rest into the fabric of creation. When we live in alignment with this ancient rhythm, we find peace and joy, but when we fight it, we fracture our souls.

Session 2: Rest

Sabbath isn’t just a day off to take a long nap — it’s a form of resistance that requires us to fight powerful forces that war against Sabbath spirituality.

Session 3: Delight

Sabbath is a full day set aside to celebrate our life with God in his world, and it is designed to be done in community — a life-giving day of delight.

Session 4: Worship and Trust – Re-centering on God

Sabbath draws our hearts back to worship and reminds us that God is in control. We will explore how Sabbath strengthens our trust in God’s provision and faithfulness, even when we step away from productivity.Sabbath isn’t just a day to stop, rest, and throw a feast in community — it’s a holy day set apart and dedicated to God himself.

Whether you are new to Sabbath or longing to renew this practice, this journey offers a supportive space to learn, reflect, and grow together.
