Introducing Selah
A word from the Psalms indicating a pause in the music.
Understood also to mean: “To pause and rest in God’s presence.” It represents peace, spiritual grounding, and divine timing. It’s a moment of stillness, where you breathe, reflect, and let God move.
Selah in Trinity
Time to come to rest in the presence of God using the space in the church.
-To do a daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly examen (resources available for daily or yearly).
-To pray in silence, in presence of others who are also praying in silence.
-To re-center your scattered mind upon the presence of God.
To be held roughly once a month, usually at the start of the month, but also at year end, during the Lenten season, for Thy Kingdom Come, and possibly other seasons.
When you come, Bring your own
– Bible,
– A devotional or a book you haven’t had the time yet to read.
– Past and future agendas, if you are doing a year-end exam.
– A notebook and pen(s)/pencil(s) to record what God is speaking to you in the times you are quiet enough to hear.
– Something to eat/drink if you will be in church long enough to need it. (Or not, if you are choosing to also fast during this time)
– Coffee, tea, and water available.
– In the winter, an extra layer of clothes or blanket.
– Headphones if you wish to listen to your own music (although silence is recommended, that can be a step too far to start out)
What Selah is NOT:
- Group prayer
- Counseling session (although afterwards, you may wish to schedule a meeting with the pastor or a trusted friend to discuss what you heard from God)
- Social time … if you want to catch up with someone else who’s also there, go for a walk together outside the church!
First sessions:
Saturday, 27-12-2025 December: 9-13h.
Saturday: 3-1-2026, 9-13h.
For these two Saturdays, a year-end examen will be available in several different forms. (See below for links to samples**)
Going forward, Selah will be held on the FIRST SATURDAY of each month (unless otherwise announced), 9-13h.
